About Our Founder


Jerry DeMartino was Senior Vice President of Global Strategy and Development for MCI WorldCom.  In this capacity, he was responsible for MCI WorldCom's international strategy, alliances and foreign acquisitions.  Mr. DeMartino joined Western Union International in 1973 as a Sales Representative.   In 1977, Mr. DeMartino was selected to WUI's Management Development Program and assigned to the international department in 1978.

In 1983, after MCI's acquisition of WUI, Mr. DeMartino was appointed Vice President of Europe and subsequently was appointed Vice President of International Relations.   In this capacity, Mr. DeMartino was responsible for engineering MCI's entrance into foreign markets and the management of MCI's relationships throughout the world.  In 1987, Mr. DeMartino was promoted to Vice President of International and in 1989 he was appointed Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

In 1994, Mr. DeMartino became President of MCI International, the $3 billion dollar subsidiary of MCI.  In 1995, he was promoted to Corporate Senior Vice President, Global Strategy and Development, managing the strategic relationships with British Telecom in the U.K., Stentor in Canada, Avantel in Mexico and Telefonica in Latin America.  In 1998, Mr. DeMartino successfully led the largest acquisition in MCI history, with the purchase of Embratel in Brazil for $2.3 billion. Mr.  DeMartino is a recognized expert in international telecommunications and a frequent speaker on this subject at conferences and seminars throughout the world.
